Goals and Objectives of this Course:
- Use prompts about supporting transgender and non-binary students, to describe assumptions and insights of practitioners, researchers and self, including how the information relates to professional education practice and growth.
- Affirm gender identities in school by developing policy shifts to ensure explicit language and protection of transgender or non-binary students.
- Collaborate with colleagues or students to increase awareness through art, use of stories and case studies of trans youth, or a list of important considerations geared toward community members.
- Implement ways to increase self-awareness of transgender or non-binary students’ issues and needs.
- Challenge the status quo through the creation of an informational tool prompting understanding and empathy for transgender and non-binary students.
