Goals and Objectives of this Course:
- Use prompts about teaching complex topics like apartheid, institutional racism, and multifaceted historical events to describe assumptions and insights of practitioners, researchers and self, including how the information relates to professional education practice and growth.
- Design a unit plan that incorporates instructional best practices, including Backward Design and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- Create multiple learning activities for collaborative discussion, writing, and critical thinking activities, centered on the course text.
- Implement a variety of learning activities and resources to develop a cohesive culminating project for students.
- Challenge the status quo related to teaching multiple perspectives of history by utilizing instructional strategies for critical analysis.
