Goals and Objectives of this Course:
- Use prompts about teaching complex topics like racism to describe assumptions and insights of practitioners, researchers and self, including how the information relates to professional education practice and growth.
- Design a unit plan that incorporates design best practices, including Backwards Design and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- Create multiple learning activities for collaborative discussion, writing, and critical thinking activities, centered on the course text.
- Implement a variety of learning activities and resources to develop a cohesive culminating project for students.
- Challenge the status quo related to talking about history and race in the classroom by analyzing media texts and identifying bias and blindspots in the ways we traditionally teach history to students.
