Classroom Lab: Chemical and Physical Changes in Matter

This engaging classroom lab activity is a great way to let your students explore changes in matter firsthand! Using everyday items you’ll set up nine stations around your classroom that feature either a chemical or physical change in matter. Introduce the lesson by talking about the differences between chemical and physical changes, then allow your students to move through the stations recording their observations at each one. When everyone is finished, come back together as a class or in small groups and have students share their observations and relate them to your initial discussion.
