Renew Your License
Educators must renew their professional license every seven years by 90 contact hours of professional learning (or six (6) semester hours of college/university coursework — or any combination thereof) — within the preceding seven years. School Principals and Professional Administrators are required to also complete the same amount of professional learning. At a very high level, those choices must align to endorsement areas, the Colorado academic standards, educator quality standards, school culture and climate, leadership or student safety and well-being.
You can meet these requirements by taking two courses from Teaching Channel with Learners Edge. Select FLEX or Professional Development courses to meet license renewal needs only. Choose from 1, 2, or 3-credit graduate-level, continuing education courses to meet both license renewal and salary advancement needs
Credit Conversion
1 Teaching Channel with Learners Edge graduate level, continuing education credit = 1 semester hour = 15 contact/clock hours
Each Teaching Channel with Learners Edge 3-credit course requires approximately 45 hours for course completion.
- A minimum of one (1) contact hour related to behavioral health that is culturally responsive and trauma- and evidence-informed – We recommend course 5229: Mental Health Advocacy and Allyship for Students of Color (45 hours/3 credits). and
- A minimum of one (1) contact hour related to increasing awareness of laws and practices pertaining to educating students with disabilities in the classroom, including but not limited to Child Find and inclusive learning environments – We recommend course 5029: Creating an Inclusive Classroom for Students with Exceptionalities (45 hours/3 credits).
